The Basics
Shower-safe
Feel free to wear it in the shower. Rinse with clean water after using shampoo or body wash.
Workout-safe
Sweat won't damage the coating. After exercise, rinse lightly with water and pat dry.
Beach & pool
Salt water is fine. Chlorine is fine too — rinse after a long swim to keep the finish bright.
Perfume & lotion
Apply perfume and lotion before putting your jewelry on. Let products absorb first.
Cleaning Your Jewelry
Ornalio pieces rarely need a deep clean — but when they do, here is the safest method:
- Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and a drop of mild dish soap.
- Place your jewelry in the bowl and let it soak for 2–3 minutes.
- Gently wipe with a soft cloth or baby toothbrush — no scrubbing.
- Rinse under clean running water.
- Pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Do not air-dry as water spots can form.
Avoid: ultrasonic cleaners, bleach, acetone, abrasive polishing cloths. These can strip the PVD coating.
Storing Your Pieces
- Store each piece separately — metal-on-metal contact causes scratches.
- Keep jewelry in the Ornalio pouch or box it came in when not wearing it.
- Avoid humid bathroom drawers for long-term storage. A bedside box is better.
- Keep away from direct sunlight for extended periods.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I wear Ornalio jewelry in the shower every day?
Yes. Our 316L stainless steel and PVD coating handle daily water exposure well. Just rinse after if using scented body products.
Will the gold colour fade over time?
PVD coating is significantly more durable than traditional gold plating. With normal wear it lasts years, not months. Harsh chemicals and abrasives are the main things to avoid.
Can I sleep in my jewelry?
Yes. Stud earrings, small hoops, and delicate necklaces are fine to sleep in. Chunky chains and cuffs are better removed as they can catch on fabric and bend.
My piece looks dull — what do I do?
Usually a quick clean with soapy water and a soft cloth brings the shine back. If the colour has changed, this may be covered under our Lifetime Colour Warranty — contact us.
Does perfume damage PVD jewelry?
Not immediately, but repeated direct contact with alcohol-based fragrances can accelerate wear. Jewelry goes on last — after perfume and lotion have fully absorbed.
How do I clean crystal or stone pieces?
Same lukewarm soapy water method, but be gentle around the stone settings. Avoid soaking for extended periods as water can work under glued stones.
